My wee squirrel friend was in and out of the feeder yesterday and I watched him for ages from the kitchen window, eventually deciding to get the camera out and try and get some shots of him. Anyway, I was hiding behind the bike shed, waiting for his return when this jackdaw landed on the roof above me ... so I turned my ready camera on him, just before he flew off. My shots of the squirrel were pretty hopeless, and so Mr Jackie Jackdaw graces 365 this morning instead!
Wonderful detail in your shot and lovely comp. This is a beautiful bird! I don't think I've ever seen one of these shared here before. His colors are lovely. Are these common birds in your area? You've captured him beautifully.
Good to see this close up of a jackdaw.....I was reading our bird book this morning & thinking what does a Jackdaw look like but the picture was really small....those Collins pocket books aren’t so big! He you are with the perfect photo & I’m so impressed with this bird...not half as black as I expected! He’s blue!
@elatedpixie They are extremely common with us, and VERY noisy. I'm not a fan, but this one landed in the right place at the right time to feature on my 365 page! :-) I admit he's fairly handsome - they're a member of the crow family.
