We have a 'wild' bank at the bottom of our garden, and last year we decided it would look good if it were full of daffodils. So, we planted 400 daffodil bulbs in September and crossed our fingers. It looks as if we have success. We are very much looking forward to seeing the daffodils bloom - they are very close to it.
Wow 400 isa lot! We are going to plant some next autumn in our bottom bit of garden too. This must be so exciting to see them coming up, worth all the planting. Just fir interest how did you plant them? I once used a bulb planter but it was such hard work on the wrist & hand to do it that way. Perhaps take a layer of soil off & plant them like that I’m thinking.
400 bulbs. My aching back! But the results will be beautiful when they come into bloom. And then the bulbs will multiply and before long, you could have 4000. I really like this POV of the bulbs pushing up through the ground and the leaves reaching for the sun.
Wonderful POV! They’ll look fantastic. I once planted 200 crocus bulbs, which attracted local rats to come to dig them up and eat them! I only had a few bloom but the rats looked healthy 😂
@happypat We took a much more mechanical approach! Hubby knew it would be too much work with a bulb planter, so he bought an attachment for his cordless drill, and drilled a hole for each bulb with it. You have to be a bit careful not to hurt your wrist though as the torque can be quite strong in the ground. We managed to plant them all without incident though. He made the holes, I popped the bulbs and soil in!
