On the road home from Skye, we passed Eilean Donan Castle - reputedly the most photographed fortress in Scotland. Understandably so, as its setting is quite splendid, situated at the confluence of three sea lochs. We stopped for a photo as the sun was hitting the hill behind and it looked perfect with the colours of autumn beginning to appear. However, by the time we parked and I walked to the right spot, the sun had gone and it was dull and drizzly - hence the conversion to black and white.
I’d love to see it in color. The green of Scotland is famous and I have never seen it in person. Who knows? Maybe in the future, if the pandemic ends…in the meantime I enjoy the views posted by my 365 friends
It’s a wonderful castle isn’t it…so dramatic here in mono……perfect in black & white although I have seen it in colour looking beautiful in a different light.
Love this place. I'm dying to come over to visit my mum and revisit some of these spots. Just daren't leave the country, as it's so hard to get an MIQ spot to come home.
@yorkshirekiwi Yes, we haven't been out of the UK in 2 years now. However, that duck is about to be broken as we're going to see our daughter in Norway next week. It must be very frustrating for you having your mum so far away when you can't visit.
Wow!! Very dramatic shot. Quite by accident, we stayed in the B&B just across from the castle and walked across the bridge and wandered around at night. The castle was all lit up.
It wasn't until after we got home that I discovered its reputation of the most photographed castle in Scotland
My sister lives just over the hill ... gorgeous part of the country/world.
