Closing of the 2022 Ballater Walking Festival by jamibann

Closing of the 2022 Ballater Walking Festival

Last night we attended and helped at the ceilidh and closing ceremony. A lovely event, great fun and lots of dancing. The Ballater Pipe Band played a few tunes to the delight of the walkers.
What a great shot of these beautifully dressed musicians, it must have sounded fabulous!

How very smart these pipers look, all in the same green tartan & & that red flash…must have been wonderful. A great finish of a lovely week. I love a pipe band, it makes me feel quite emotional too… must be thinking back to living in Forres.

@happypat I probably already told you that I was born in Forres?! We were living in Dallas at the time though - dad was the local bobby there. When were you there?

@shutterbug49 Yes - 8 yards of fabric in each kilt. That's why they hang so beautifully.

@jamibann No you didn’t Issi….well I never! We were there during the latter part of the war for four years. My brother was born there & we rented part of a lovely stone house near Grant Park. My father was stationed at Lossiemouth, he was a navigator on Lancaster Bombers. Of course my father in particular loved Scotland & when my parents could afford a caravan we toured all over every year. They settled for Morar in the end & we went for years every summer.😍
My brother is very proud he was born in Forres!!
