Dawe's Glacier by janeandcharlie

Dawe's Glacier

“Purple snow capped mountains marched off in either direction, with clouds floating around their middles like fluffy belts. In a massive valley between two of the largest peaks, a ragged wall of ice rose out of the sea, filling the entire gorge. The glacier was blue and white with streaks of black, so that it looked a hedge of dirty snow left behind on a sidewalk after a snowplow had gone by, only four million times as large.”
― Rick Riordan, The Son of Neptune
The quote is a good description of the glacier. The crew of the ship made sure they didn't hit any of these chunks of ice.

Thanks so much for commenting on my photo of Dawe's Glacier in Alaska. I'd never seen a glacier before, and it was interesting to see this one. Charlie took photos of seals on the icebergs leading up to the glacier. You can see one here: https://365project.org/bigdad/365/2018-06-16
