Flicker is back.... by jankoos

Flicker is back....

Here is my little buddy. He is a little shy - I took several dozen pics with both cameras but he is SO fidgety. I will post a close up in my Flora and Fauna album.
This is so clear - what type of bird is it?

It was thru the window too, which could use a good wash on the outside.

@jankoos
I do all my bird shots through windows.....As long as you don't use flash, I think they turn out okay.

OH that is a fabulous shot - I do love the FLickers - and legend has it that a Flicker in your yard is a good luck omen.

I am going to have to get some bird feeders. You come up with good bird photos.
February 21st, 2013
@chard - Thanks Chard. Isn't he gorgeous?
@bristolrose - Thanks Kathryn!
@maggiemae - Thanks - and yes - that tail is something else.
@sansjuan - oh yes Nita. We feed them year round - we keep several feeders full and I also buy the suet and stackable seed cakes. If you have a Wild Birds Unlimited near you, check them out. We also live in the country and keep our property pretty natural so they have habitat for nesting and hiding.

@cookie123 @elaine55 @elaine55 @rhos - Thanks so much, ladies. I am thrilled he is here - we had last seen the flickers several years ago. Have to keep the suet feeders full.....

Ann
Beautiful ! I love flickers. Mine never come to the feeders. : (
February 24th, 2013
@foxsparrow - Thanks Ann. This is a recent development - and today I found a woodpecker suet feeder - it has a rest for the tail. I also trimmed some of the overhanging branches to make it easier to take pics from the house. Oh and hubby cleaned the window - that should help, too. :-)

I like its little patch of red.
February 25th, 2013
