Grosbeak Family Dining Out.... by jankoos

Grosbeak Family Dining Out....

Daddy (lower right) brought two of his babies to the feeders today and they were all over the woodpecker feeder. Sadly I haven't seen the flicker or hairy woodpecker in quite a while. These big babies were fun to watch. You can see they are not as red as the male yet (but darker than the adult female already).
Fun capture!

@mamamia @maggiemae - Thanks Joanne and Maggiemae. It was fun to watch them today. They are pretty shy so I couldn't get too close. Had to do major cropping.

@pflaume - Thanks Lisa - not as clear as I would have liked - it was through a window and I had to crop a lot.....but yes - it was fun to watch them. Greedy babies.

This is really sweet seeing them all together. Great capture. I have a lot of cardinals, blue jays and woodpeckers flitting around all day but I just can't get a good or close enough shot. You have the knack of getting these great bird shots.

Fun capture, Jan. Looks like a great crowd. I was wondering if you know anything about the young lady from last night that was having the problems. I didn't get a chance to read the feed all through, but I am so very concerned. I took a quick check today and didn't see any updates, I was hoping you could tell me how things ended up? Did she get help?
I have company and will be super busy this weekend but will be trying to check in. Thanks for anything you can tell me.

@bristolrose - Thanks Kathryn - the grosbeaks/finches/woodpeckers are shy - I can only get them through the window. On the office side of my house, I have a shade garden, and then a path and beyond that we have left it natural to provide habitat for the birds. We hung up the feeders so I can see them from my home office - that's how I get the pics. I am guessing they are 30-50ft away depending on which feeder they are on. Now it's summer I have the screen on the one side of the window so I can open it - and that limits my field of view a bit. On the other hand, the siskins are not shy at all. One landed on me this morning when I was filling the feeder, chittering at me to hurry up.
