I was SO excited to see this bird from my home office window after work today. I had little time to grab camera and take pics before they flew off. They did make a serious dent in the sunflower seeds.
I haven't seen any Evening Grosbeaks in a long time, although we see the Black Headed ones often.
Not a great deal pf photographic merit I am sure - but I did my best in the seconds I had before they took off.
They are one of the larger members of the finch family.
@nanalisarocks - Thanks for the fave, Lisa. They were side by side briefly but I wasn't quick enough to capture them. I hope they come back. I have seen a female tanager gather nesting materials - but haven't seen a male yet.
Great shot of this colourful bird, you did really well to capture it. Whenever I see interesting birds they are always long gone by the time I've grabbed my camera.
