We had some visitors yesterday so I baked a layered apple cake. I use a tube pan as it's dense, and sprinkle walnuts and powdered sugar on top. It's yummy.
Oh, this looks SO delicious!! And it is a perfect entry for the back to basics theme this week -- it's texture and the textures don't get much better than this!
Thanks for the lovely comments on the cake - it's very easy to make. You need a tube pan - that's the one with the funnel in the middle - and preferably a springform. It can be tricky to get out intact as it's both dense and moist (six apples in it!). Recipe below - I found it online - credit to the Smitten Kitchen - their recipes are always delicious. http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2008/09/moms-apple-cake/
It looks delicious and wonderful capture of it. Funny but I am making a cake just now to take to a friends tonight. Mine is an Armenian nutmeg. I was going to ask you for the recipe of yours but see you have already put the link there. Thanks !
