Taken in November. I was stopped at a light, on my way home from Saturday shopping and errands watching the sun go down behind the mountain - and here comes the plane. I had about three seconds - and this was from my truck so composition isn't great. No time to turn around before the light was gone. A couple in the car next to me actually backed up a couple of feet when they saw me pointing my camera - so kind of them. When I originally took the picture, I thought I could edit out all the signs - but I am not that skilled, and I actually liked the contrasts. At first I thought the signs ruined a stunning view - but then realized the mountain softened the signs. There is a small airport across the street and this little plane was coming in to land. This Walgreen's must have the best view in the US, don't you think?
Fave! I think it was wise to leave in the signs, love the contrasts. I've got several retail parking lots in my area that have the most amazing locations as far as sunsets, just not fair!
It is a gorgeous shot even without the plane ... the signs don't detract from the beautiful sky, light and colors in the background. What a wonderful view to have all the time! fav
WOW...what a shot! The mountain is gorgeous and I love that you included the urban touch...showing just how lucky we are to live where you can see a beautiful scene like this in the middle of a city/town! The lights are lovely and that mountain! WOW.
@tina_mac - thanks Tina - my camera (for once!) was on the passenger seat and not in it's case as I had just taken another (unsuccessful) pic at the previous stop light. :-) @anazad511 - Thanks Ana - I should contact Walgreens and see if they like it. :-) @grammyn@eyesmile@gizathecat@katney@joannbayne@chard@frankhymus - thanks for the comments on my Mt Rainier pic - much appreciated!
In the background, a majestic and beautiful mountain and the glorious colours of the sunset; in the foreground, symbols of everyday human life. Nice juxtaposition.
