Sadly, yesterday's emerging butterfly didn't survive - it was stuck inside its pupa case and although we eventually gave it some assistance, it was too weak and died. Two more butterflies emerged successfully overnight - which we missed - and we took the box outside to release them.
This sharp-eyed wasp saw its chance of a free dinner and cut up the dead butterfly and carried it away in pieces.
One more pupa to hatch - it's got to be tonight as we are are all going on holiday tomorrow!
