Harkening back to my college days, the go to place for the best hamburger of course was Tommy's World Famous Original Hamburgers (shown here http://365project.org/jaybutterfield/365/2016-06-06 ), the iconic hamburger joint in LA since 1946 famous for chili burgers.
Not wanting to let a good idea go unstolen, a proliferation of knockoffs erupted in the late 70's trading on this success all with the same tag line and bright red decor -- Thomas's, Thoma's, Tomy's, Thammy's , and this one, Big Tomy's. Most have gone by the wayside while the original has prospered and thrived.
