The New England Confectionery Co., makers of the eponymous Necco wafers (my absolutely favorite candy of all time) announced it would have to shut down if it can't find a buyer by early May.
Candy speculators and fans of Necco Wafers apparently are now hoarding the 171-year-old sweet and they are now listing on eBay for up to 10 times their normal retail price.
This is a disaster and an impending sign of the decline of civilization as we know it. If Necco's go, what's next?
