Best Part of Ushering

My favorite part of ushering is lighting the candelabra, but I rarely arrive in time to do it. This week was no exception--I arrived in time to photograph Steve lighting the last few candles.

I've ushered for the 9:15 service on the fourth Sunday of the month for many years, and I am grateful that Steve always arrives early. I was only about ten minutes late this morning, but I also missed collating the orders of service and setting up tables with candles of gratitude, memory, and hope. I arrived in plenty of time to distribute orders of service, count the audience, pass the collection baskets, open and close the big glass doors, collect and collate programs to be re-used for the second service, and clean up after the service.

It would be easier to arrive a half hour early for the 11:15 service. I'm not sure why I continue to usher for the early service. I guess I just like this usher team.
I love the smiles on their faces!
