Forsythia Reflections on Canal by jbritt

Forsythia Reflections on Canal

Canal towpath near Key Bridge looking toward Georgetown (opposite direction than my March 3rd photo). The ducks and reflections caught my eye as I was biking to meet Nadine in Bethesda this afternoon. You can see a bit of Key Bridge just beyond the forsythia and the pedestrian bridge over the canal beyond that.
Like "Biking on Canal Towpath near Key Bridge 8 / 365", you've used the bridge to contrast water reflections to wonderful effect. The stripes of forsythia are dramatic. The photo is cropped perfectly. I like the graffiti details on either side, the straight towpath with a jogger for scale and interest, the ducks subtly punctuating the water right in the middle, the arch of the Key Bridge span.... You know, although they seem crowded to we cyclists some time, the majority of Washingtonians never see these places.

I agree with Diane totally! I just love this shot! FAV I love riding this path! I like past Old Town and often ride to Georgetown. I want to ride the path during the week, but usually do it on the weekends because i ride by myself during the week and didn't know how safe I would feel. What do you think?

@marytj I think it's safe during the day, but you should try riding with my bicycle group sometime. Check out www.Babesonbikes.org. Most of our rides are during the day on weekdays--a wonderful group of women who love to bike together. We usually ride on paved trails, but one group rode along the towpath to Great Falls recently.
