Robins by jbritt

Robins

I photographed robins in my backyard this morning. Then I came inside and made my first collage for yesterday's photo page. When I had trouble deciding between six of the robin photos, I decided to play with Photoshop again. I watched a video on the web and learned a little more. This opens a whole new world of things to play around with.

I loved watching the baby sit in the tree scuffing up its feathers--it looked like it was taking a bath or scratching an itch that wouldn't go away. A video would have captured it better. I shot this when it opened its mouth as if to squawk but no sound came out. Soon after that, it flew away and tumbled into a cluster of three birds. I wish the holly branches hadn't obscured my view but I couldn't get clear of them without a ladder and that surely would have made it flee.

The middle two photos are the same robin. I flipped the image so they are facing each other (something PS can do, but I don't think LR can). I was impressed at how different the head looks depending on how it configures it's head feathers.
