Wavy Glass Shadows by jbritt

Wavy Glass Shadows

This is the first ting I noticed when I woke up this morning. I went directly downstairs to get my camera since I knew it wouldn't last long. I love the wavy glass in our windows but have never noticed this pattern on the wall before. You can also see the stained glass tulip hanging in our window. I was wishing my poster wasn't there but didn't want to crop it out because I wanted the tulip in the frame. Instead, I converted to B&W since the blue on the poster stood out more than I liked in the color version. This is the first B&W I've posted on 365.

We probably should replace the windows with double panes that have better insulation but these are too pretty to throw away. My husband spent a lot of time rebuilding the frames and they are beautiful now.

Well, I experienced my first real earthquake this afternoon. I thought I felt one several years ago and I was right, but there was no mistaking this one. I had just returned home and was in the dining room. My china cabinet made a lot of noise but nothing broke. My calico cat was even more scared than I was--she ran up the stairs and I haven't seen her since. Better go look for her again... No damage, but it certainly shook up a lot of people. i went back to the store after the quake and everyone was talking about it. I also heard a lot of sirens but I don't think there was significant damage in this area. The weather reminded me of Sept 11, 2001, but I'm very grateful that this day will not be as memorable as that one. I immediately called my husband, then my parents, and then my mother in law. Everyone felt the quake, but I think I was more shaken up than any of them.
I like the textures, the interplay of light and dark. Well suited for black and white. I agree, the poster is distracting. Without the poster it is an abstract image of light and dark.

My brother lives in WV and he said the quake wake him up. (N)
