Fog at the Sailing Marina by jbritt

Fog at the Sailing Marina

I biked along the river to visit an old friend in Old Town Alexandria, and I stopped to photograph the fog even though I was late. I wish I had stopped when I saw that the top half of the Washington Monument was covered in fog but at that point I was REALLY late. I rode faster and felt like I could take time to stop as I approached the Sailing Marina. I wanted to wait for an airplane landing, but settled for two joggers instead.

Beth and I met at Sharon's house this morning. Beth is always prompt and I'm always late, but this morning I arrived before she did.

Sharon has a disorder involving antibodies attacking her nerves. Beginning in June, she could no longer move her legs. it was great to see her, but I wish we could have been biking together instead of discussing her illness.

This morning I wore the first Babes on Bikes jersey, the one designed for our first century in October 1999. Our new jersey is much different and I forget how nice the old one is. We got many compliments on the 1999 Sea Gull Century ride and a woman complimented me again today.

It has been several years since I've seen Sharon, but we have many memories. The two of us shared a room in Jennifer H's beach house after our first century. We rode many miles together over many years, and I hope to bike with her again soon.
