This beauty is going to have to spend the rest of her life in captivity due to her injuries. She was struck by a car and has major damage to the shoulder area... she goes for x-rays tomorrow.
It is bitter-sweet... we want to release the wildlife we care for but when we get something unusual there is that "tug" that we want to be able to use that creature in programs that we offer to the schools and public.
We don't see these sweet little PA residents often... unlike the Screech owls that we see quite often... in fact we have 5 in our little hospital as I type this. 3 are ready for release and the other two will become ambassadors or "working" birds used in educational programs.
@chejja She knows it! She is really quite sweet for a wild owl... sometimes their willingness to be close to people gets them in trouble but this does make for some awesome close-ups. Thank you for taking the time to look....and I am so fortunate to be working at the environmental center where we see about 500 wildlife patients a year. This is my 24th year.
You asked about my oil and water picture. If you just google oil and water photography it will give you all the info you need!
