Day 27: Ice Patterns

I don't understand the science behind this happening .... my brain tells me the shadows of the trees should make the ice colder and it would not melt first.... or perhaps I have it backwards???

Black absorbs heat, so will hold onto the higher temperature I would guess.? Lovely textures
