This little eastern screech owl known to everyone at the center and to thousands of school children as simply "Butler" passed away. He was about 10 or 11 years old the best we could figure out and he will be missed.
@shepherdmanswife He was my "go to" owl whenever I was doing an owl program at a school.... he put up with all the chaos us humans seem to create ...ha ha. Nothing phased him...he just went with the flow. I miss him terribly. We don't attach anthropomorphic traits to the animals and we always respect their nature but I miss him as "part" of my life.
@jeanniec57 I am guessing that you are in the US as I haven't heard of an Eastern Screech Owl but we have 'Little Owls' here in the UK that have features like that. Always look cross or annoyed. So funny.
@shepherdmanswife Yes I am in the US... Pennsylvania. We have the Eastern Screech Owl (we are in the eastern part of Pennsylvania) and we have the Western Screech Owl in the western part of the state.
