Day 248: Looking for Freedom =(

Unfortunately, this young owl is going to spend the rest of its life in captivity due to human interference.

Ugh.

Worst part of the job!

I love my job and helping injured animals is very rewarding... but when humans interfere where they shouldn't, the wildlife suffers.

The woman who brought it to us thought she could give it a good life. She. Was. Wrong.

Now, this owl is imprinted on humans and cannot be released.
Poor little thing, can it be used for educational purposes??

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Yes, he will have to live the rest of his life in captivity but at least he will be wonderful for education programs. We will use his story to possibly make people think about their interaction with wildlife. Had she brought it to us immediately, we would have raised it with another screech owl and it would have been released.

@stevepam I tell people that we are the most dangerous animals on the planet. But, then we are the best animals at times, too.
