As the school year winds down I thought my image from today would be more about cleaning up and ending the year. Instead I saw our lone goldfish swimming around the 10 gallon aquarium and I started to think about the number of fish we have had over the past few years, and this is the only survivor.
Are goldfish social? So their small brains register thoughts beyond swim and eat? Do goldfish get lonely?
School is a very social place, and with summer vacation about to separate these students from their friends are they also lonely? I know we have gotten used to the system of summers off, but perhaps it would be better for the students to continue to have social interactions with their peers.
