It's nice to enjoy the view of the vastness of the landscape. But at our feet, along the way, there is also beauty. Even at these heights mountain flowers blooming - in poor soil and among the rocks.
You see a Ground cistus (Rhodothamnus chamaecistus). This plant species only flourishes in the eastern Alps.

I was just looking at your next shot (had missed this one) thinking - are those alpine flowers up that high? I guess they were. Seems quite fitting for these delicate beauties to make their own way in this rugged country.
