Jerome..how do you do it? This is so beautiful. It is not your typical shot and yet I knew immediately it had to be you. I'm such a fan of your photography.
I apologize that I do not respond adequately to each individual of you. But now I do not write "Thank you, for your nice comment" ... I do not want that this is seen as a reply phrase that I write quickly. I would like you to address all who so kindly reply here (I hope my English is reasonably sufficient):
This image with this swan... I have long hesitated whether to upload it. Helen Jane... she saw it, felt... it is not "typical" for me. And she felt it - but it's mine... I was doubtful...
It really touches me, that this is so kind accepted.
The swan... actually, he's white... In my picture, he is bright, but not white. From beak you see nothing... It lacks the "face" of the swan. A little ripples in the water are always pretty, maybe a nice bokeh... none of it in this picture, only an "empty", uniform, blue surface... And the comp... well, central axis... Not much happening there, actually...
The picture was taken in the early morning on a mountain lake. The morning mist over the water volatilises, but it is still there. The morning mist, I like it... And this swan is there, quite far away in the middle of the lake. The tele lens I needed. The haze makes all hard contours soft. And the morning sun in its warm tones colores the white swan in this light modulating red, yellow and blue hues of the water. And the lake is quiet... And the swan is preening its feathers... As if it is hugging itself ... Something tender in this gesture and this light... And this wonderful silence ... Therefore: no excited comp in the image... quiet, delicate blue to the whole image... an intimate gesture... tenderness... maybe even a little piece of poetry... I think we need that: poetry...
