The mountains embrace you warm and loving - during the ascent to the summit, when the gentle summer breeze caressing your cheeks, when the clouds welcome you with a smile, when you are at the top and the view opens into the vastness of the landscape arround, so close to heaven...
But the mountains also teach you about your limits. And sometimes they do not grant a second chance...

Thank you, Muse and Joan, for your nice comments!
Yes, Joan, the trees are an important detail in this photo. They give a size reference. And they reinforce the power of rock - in this harsh steep face they are, partly on the edge of existence, partly crooked and crippled.
I knew how special this would be when I finally got to see it on my computer screen and I am not disappointed. You show us both the beauty and the harshness together.
@helenhall So nice are always your lines, so pleasant your nearness. Thank you!
Yes, it is as you say it: The mountains have their own beauty. They give you wonderful moments that warm your soul. But they are also harsh, relentless, merciless.
But they already gave me a second chance, my beloved mountains... when I stood on a ridge edge in winter, on a frozen snow overhang...
