Ascent to Almkogel, a mountain at the lake Mondsee, Upper Austria.
I have climbed through dense fog. Now I stand in bright sunshine and look down at an illuminated rock finger. Beneath it everything sinks in a large fog lake.
It is a special experience when you are climbing in dense mist for a long time. When you do not see more than ten steps, everything shadowless and you have trouble keeping the orientation. And you start to doubt that the fog will end. You think of giving up and turning back. And suddenly the fog wall opens and the glowing sun showers you with its light...
You certainly are the intrepid explorer. I climbed Ben Nevis once in dense mist, but there was no view from beginning to end. How beautifully revealed is this finger of rock. The trees in the mist behind though, have an ethereal beauty enhanced by the mist. I'm taking a few weeks break after completing my first year of photos, but will try to look in every now and then. I should hate to miss out on your constant supply of captivating images.

Dear Helen,
you're taking a break for a few weeks... I can understand your decision, but I miss you... I miss your thoughtful and empathetic lines - lines of an unusual woman...
I am looking forward to every visit from you...
Congratulate your completed year! A great performance!
Ben Nevis - Scotland must be a wonderful country for hikes and climbing tours. Unfortunately, I have never been there.
You get such amazing photos in the fog - you have the talent to make it work so well for you in capturing the atmosphere of the scene - we can almost feel the dampness of the air around you standing there. Stunning again. Fav
Another beautiful photo. I have to say that you are a busy guy. Do you go on these amazing hikes daily? You must be exceptionally fit. I really enjoy your photos and it is something for me to strive for. Thanks so much!

Dear Erika, a nice idea is this: a book. For a long time I am thinking of making a book of pictures - and with accompanying texts. It should be something in which the thoughtful and the soulful are in harmony. I never had time for it. But I can dream about it further...
Very kind of you, if you say: "Id buy it". :) Of course I would give it to you.
@moonmtn
Dear Kahsia, it would be very nice if I could be daily in the mountains. But I have a job that demands me. When I finally can be in the mountains, I usually see so much of interesting on the way. Sometimes I come home with more, sometimes with less shots. And these pictures I load up.
I hope this approach is o.k.

Dear Louise, I admire the Chinese ink painting. I look at it with awe. Wonderful works of art are those in magical light-darkness. I can only learn, try and hope...
I can only imagine that you gasped in awe when this appeared before you! What a stunning sight! @louschmoo And I agree with Louise who saw them as Chinese paintings! I also thought the same as I first looked at this!
@marshwader
Madeleine, thank you for your nice visit!
Yes, it is the same picture in two different approaches. Etching - I guess you mean the big grain. I used a filter to achieve this effect. I wanted to increase the foggy.
