The snow looks so beautiful, when undisturbed like this.

The trees look so lost without the familiar line of their landscape. I think this photograph truly expresses what is meant by a blanket of snow. Wonderful scene.

Another wonderful snowshoe tour - your are so fortunate to live in this beautiful country. Really love the vast area shown in this photo... a natural B&W.

You can feel how quiet it is. My favorite thing about winter hiking

Wow, that terrain must be difficult to walk in. Not much level ground and goodness knows what's under that snow. Love the emptiness of this shot, very peaceful.

Very picturesque Jerome. The trees look like chocolate decorations on a cake.

@cmp No, I am no longer in this area, but I would like to go back this winter. It's always a question of time ...

@lyndamcg @kazlamont A pretty comparison. :) Thank you!
January 18th, 2017
@golftragic Yes, you are right: it is risky to walk off the tracks in this terrain.
January 18th, 2017
@jerome How do you know where the tracks are? That snow covers everything.
January 19th, 2017
@golftragic Along the paths, sticks with signs are set at certain intervals. So you can orient yourself. In addition, when there is no longer a fresh snow, the traces of others are usually present.
Before I go on a tour in the mountains, I carefully examine the paths on the Internet. A site with good descriptions and maps is http://www.bergfex.com . There I can also download maps to my outdoor navigation. This equipment is very important for the ongoing orientation in the mountains.
