For me, there's a feeling of strength but also sadness, in this super image..
generally we think of these animals as being very large/strong/cumbersome. In reality they are, for the most part, quite gentle. They form life-long bonds and appear to grieve, no different to humans... the sadness for me comes through in the broken tusk, which festers, causing constant discomfort. this is a beautifully sympathetic portrait of a gorgeous animal..

@rosiekerr A fabulous shot! Did you know that many elephants have one broken tusk? We learnt from a guide in Botswana that it indicates what side they use (like we are left handed or right handed) for fighting and digging.
