Draped in grass and flowers, there is no comparison to the mountains of Austria in the summertime. You’ve captured the vast beauty wonderfully here, Jerome. Do the mountains in your area have the cabins (Hütten?) where Almdudler and lunch is offered to the hikers?
@casablanca 😊 it was my favorite when I lived in Austria so many years ago, and finally the Edelweiss Deli (two hours drive from me) sells it! I’m a happy girl!
@hrb73 Yes, the mountains have their own charm in summer. When the path leads past flowering mountain meadows, then the rock with austere beauty points to the summit.
You know Almdudler? :) Of course there are also huts where you can get Almdudler and lunch - not on every mountain, but on many.
@jerome It’s a little store with a deli in Portland, Oregon, where they sell goods from Germany and Austria. They have Milka, D’arbo, Semmelknödel, so many wonderful things! I lived in Austria from 1998-2002 - first in Innsbruck then Vienna but spent a lot of time in Vorarlberg in the Alps. I hope to return one day.
@hrb73 Milka, D'arbo, even Semmelknödel... amazing! - All this in Oregon... Great!
I am really happy that you have such a good memory of your stay in Austria. Innsbruck, Vienna, Alps in Vorarlberg - you surely know these places much better than me.
Many greetings to Portland!
Overwhelming... So many dear people, who obviously also love the mountains...
It touches me very much.
