Mrs B's Great Adventure (8) What a difference a week makes
As you view:
On the top left a shredded leaf with a hungry 1st instar larva.
On the right as close up as I could manage, still 1st instar but detail becoming more obvious.
Bottom left, now green, first skin left behind, a 2nd instar larva near the empty egg shells.
Bottom right and already adopting the resting "pose".

@susie1205@stownsend@fbailey@888rachel@joev Thank you all. The caterbugs are growing nicely, but there are fewer even in controlled conditions. Sloughing off outgrown skins is hard and perilous work. If they and the outdoor larvae, out grow my food source, I know where several young trees are planted and I can bring "take away" meals for them.
I saw something intriguing the other day, somethin I've never seen before, and if I find sufficient mental and physical energy will create a collage
