A badly damaged Peacock butterfly in my tiny York garden. You might see the "fracture" line in the narrow part of the right wing. He's actively feeding - but for how much longer?

@fbailey He certainly HAS lived. It's been tough, but butterflies/moths can still get around when they have lost an almost impossible amount of wing.

@homeschoolmom Sad, yes, but part of butterfly life, as it is for humans. We grow old and wrinkly, they lose scales and bits of wing.
