Silent Truth by jesperani

Silent Truth

I recently discovered that a friend of mine has been suffering depression for some time - she hid it well until her breakdown. Thought this was apt for the 'secret' theme. (The idea was one I saw on the Internet a couple of months ago.)
Thank you for the great response to yesterday's pic. We had so much fun doing it! :)
A fantastic creative composition.

Mental illness is so sad, especially the way it isolates its victims. I have had a period of depression back in the 80's and know how lonely and misunderstood I felt. A poignant and dramatic image to highlight the illness.

It's true, it's often the way of things, of things not voiced.

This is very simple, very striking and exactly sums up how people who are feeling depressed so often seem to others and how they are really feeling. Fav.
I do hope your friend is getting the help she needs and will soon be able to view life from a more hopeful place and live it the way she would wish. All the very best to her.

Fav. Very cleverly done and about sums up depression and how we hide it from others. I hope your friend is feeling better now and able to ask for help. It's a big step. x

As others have said - very much indicative of how most still struggle to accept and share their mental health issues, particularly depression. It is still viewed as 'just shake it off'. This one just floored me - a friend experiencing post partum depression was told by her Mom - 'just put on some lipstick and you will feel better' - yup, cause lipstick has such power
