Vast expanses of tundra. This is the snow machine trail leading to the next village. Not much to see but the occasional wolf, caribou, fox, moose, ptarmigan, lynx, or wolverine. Can't say I've seen much of ANY of those myself! But we do hear regular reports from the local hunters.
@mbemis@kerrynz@cruiser@sheranator@gigiflower@cathieg Thank you ALL for the nice comments! It was only -13 today and the winds finally stopped, so I ventured out - but not for long! Hopefully I'll be able to post more of this vastness soon. At least here - upriver - we have trees to break up the flat monotony of the barren coastal area I lived in for 5 years.
@helly31@francoise@fleurieee Thank you! I am not brave enough to drive a snow-go! I've been a tandem passenger, and once a driver, but that was enough for me! Cross country skis a bit, just for exercise, and passenger on the rare occasions that my husband fires up his snow machine, but that's it.
Welcome to 365 Project! This will be my second year and it's been a challenging project but rewarding in so many ways. I look forward to following you and seeing pictures from Alaska. By the way I have a teaching background and use the same type of camera too. Mine came with two lenses but I would love to add accessories.
Hahaha - I'm at school right now - on a SATURDAY(?) - what's up with that?? Trying to beat the last minute rush, I guess. I've been teaching elementary for 31 years now! Can't believe it. And yes, this is going to be very challenging with a full-time job that I can't seem to separate myself from. One reason I joined 365 is to try to tear myself away from the work that just doesn't seem to go away! I truly NEED to get away! This is a tiny village of only 250 people (Inupiaq Eskimos) and there's really nothing to do here but school and home. I need to get outside and look closely at all there is to appreciate. Thank you for following me, Barb, but I'm sure I would learn more from YOU - a veteran 365-er"!
I want ti see it on my eyes in reality
