Pit Stop

Every year some of the villages send their high school students on a trip to a local hot springs. This is our parking lot with some of the sleds of another school that stopped for the night on their way to the springs. Their trip will be nearly 200 miles, so they pack themselves into the sleds as comfy as they can! Our trip is only about 45 miles. Still...it's a bumpy ride!
funny that "local" means 45 to 200 miles. the colors are great in this

Like no parking lot I have ever seen - your life is so different to most Joan... I admire you for making the change.

what an amazing life you are having. Do they pull them along in a train or one by one. Sounds a bit like outback Australia where 200 miles can be called "local"

Thank you so much for giving us a glimpse of your daily walks. What a wonderful adventure! How long would 45 miles take you to travel?

I am LOVING your northern Arctic Alaska shots, Joan. They are fascinating..... so totally foreign to us down here in southern CA.

@francoise LOL! I was on the jet once, 1,000 mile trip into Anchorage, and overheard one passenger ask another, "So...what are you going 'into town' for?" Couldn't get over that phrase!!!
@vignouse It has been a wonderful adventure!
@cruiser One snow-go pulls one sled. This was a camping trip, so in addition to pulling students, they were heavily loaded with gear and food.
@lsanderson55 45 miles on snow-go would take about 2 hours. It's a bumpy and cold ride. I just loved seeing the hibiscus-covered cushion!!
@aglennc It's definitely an adventure, Anita! Loving every minute!

Thanks, everyone, for taking so much interest. It helps me see my world through your eyes. :-)
