Springerle by jetr

Springerle

This is an awesome rolling pin - probably weighs 40 pounds! It's for pressing springerle, a German anise-flavored cookie that my mom made every Christmas. Hers were always perfect. I always end up with wet, sticky dough stuck in the carvings. Mine are a disaster!
What a beautiful piece of kitchen ware - and such a lovely piece of family history too. Fav for the opposition and detail.

What a beautiful and antique piece you have here. Wonderfully captured, I like this dof and the comp. I have only square molds and in Switzerland the bisquits are called: Änisbrötli (little anise breads). The dought has to be very, very cold before rolling out, so it is not so sticky.
