Typical of the markers that run between villages (8 miles to the north and 30 miles to the south) for snow-go travel in the winter. Some intrepid travelers go as far 150 miles to our nearest major community of 3,000 people in Kotzebue.
fantastic scene. You wouldnt want anyone to knock over the markers or you wouldnt know which way to go. Although I suppose the locals know the landmarks.
@noko411@cruiser@novab@seattlite Thanks for the comments and favs! The local Search & Rescue take responsibility for putting up the trail markers each year. They even have trail across the frozen sound - 10 miles of frozen sea ice! The locals DO know the trails, but in snowy/blizzard conditions, the trail markers are lifesavers.
