No idea what it is, but it tasted good! I'm so far behind on posting and commenting it isn't funny. Lots of fillers coming soon. Meanwhile, this odd but tasty "thing" came across my desk. Can anyone enlighten me? These don't grow in the Arctic!

2024 Update: Back in Montana, but very rusty with my skills. I need to refresh and practice a lot more! I get so much inspiration...

Is it a rambutan? They grow in SE Asia!

I would also say that this is a rambutan... but what it's doing there 80C out of its comfort zone is anybody's guess!

I think I saw them being sold in a local Asian food store. I am also curious how it came across your desk!

It's a rambutan Joan, a tropical fruit. How the heck did you get one of these in Alaska? Yes, they are delicious. BTW, Love the shot too.

Thanks to everyone for their informative comments! Apparently our school has a Healthy Diet grant that allows us to bring in a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, which are badly needed in their diet. So...now I know! Thanks very much! :-)
