A vigil for Jack Layton set up at the base of the Joseph Howe statue outside of Province House (c. 1819), home of the Nova Scotia Legislature and Canada's oldest house of government. According to the plaque on the gates, anyway. Sad times for Canada; Jack's passing is such a great loss for the entire country, regardless of one's political stripe.

I actually cried while watching his state funeral. Never did that for a politician before. Also went over to Toronto City Hall and read all the tributes there. Such a loss - hope his spirit and ideals continue with future leaders.
very sad days for canada indeed. i've seen orange backed photos of jack with arms held high in victory all over downtown calgary. thankfully, not everyone in calgary is colourblind to all things not-blue.
