Maybe. I like to think I discovered where all the male mosquitoes in Calgary hang out, but I'm not 100% sure of this ID. When I stuck my hand out amongst them none tried to bite me, but it could be that they were juveniles whose biting instinct had not kicked in yet.
I had intended on getting some more exciting cityview shots from a park along a bluff located north of my old neighbourhood, but when I went to where the staircase up to the park used to be, it was gone. Thanks Calgary, for sacrificing useful things in favour of development.
I'm currently situated in Victoria, having previously lived in Beijing, Halifax, Chilliwack, Calgary, Vancouver and growing up in Northwestern Ontario. My aim with photography is...
Nice shot; I'm surprised how far each insect moved in an eighth of a second. Regarding Calgary, I would assume you're not shockd or anything like that!
@mjalkotzy ~Not really. They have some erosion control going on where the staircase used to be - erosion caused by the big mansions built on the bluff up above is my guess.
@onarom Oh, just nerdiness in action. Think I've picked the Tokina after reviewing my test shots from the weekend. Just seems to be sharper at most focal lengths. Won't miss the 10mm, it is more the 17-20mm that I'm worried about missing.
@jgoldrup - Yeah! I'm glad you picked the Tokina. I'm sure you'll love it. I understand your concern about the 17-20, but I still have my 18-55 lens that came with the camera and I never bother using it anymore so it can't be that bad! :)
This has nice abstract qualities, are the bugs the tracer lines through the window? were they illuminated? Super shot, it's like the scene in The Birds!
@chewyteeth This is taken on a pedestrian bridge, no windows....but yes, those lines are their flight paths. I can't remember if I used my flash though....my guess is probably.

Clever idea on the shot.
