Stuck on the editorial since 1988

It amazes me that this bronze, which is in a public square, has not been destroyed by pigeons or vandals over the last 43 years.
Is this The Waiting Man in Australia Square which I still have never seen?

Except for him being bronze he looks very lifelike.

@kjarn
Hi Jennie. It certainly is the “waiting man” - I didn’t know he was called that.

The bronze is a bit of a give away. But there are many stories over the years of passers by thinking it is a real person. I just read today that the artist is an American called John Seward Johnson who was the grandson of one of the founders of the Johnson and Johnson company in the USA.

@johnfalconer Well that’s interesting. I wonder if John Seward Jonson has any of these here in the US. I guess I can Google that information. Thank you for this extra info.

John Seward Johnson also founded a place called Grounds for Sculpture in New Jersey. I visited there a few years ago, such an amazing place. He died last year. @jb030958

@jb030958
Ok!!!

The artist was very good. So much of the sculpture is so realistic. The ribbing in the socks, the "fabric" of the suit and the shoes, for example.
