Knucker window by josiegilbert

Knucker window

This is one of the stained glass windows in St. Mary Magdalene Church in Lyminster, West Sussex. It tells the local legend of the Knucker, which was a dragon that lived in a nearby bottomless pool and which used to devour young women. It was killed when a local man made a poisoned meat pie, which the dragon ate. Unfortunately the man licked his fingers, forgetting they were covered in poison too and he died as well. Near this window is a medieval stone tomb, which allegedly was the man's last resting place.
A fabulous shot of these beautiful windows, fav!
