Anthony St. Leger by josiegilbert

Anthony St. Leger

We went for a walk in Slindon, West Sussex and discovered that St. Mary's Church was open. Inside we found the effigy of Anthony St. Leger, who died in 1539. He is wearing War of the Roses period armour and this is the only remaining wooden tomb effigy in West Sussex
Fascinating..

A great shot, Josie! (I find capturing statues quite tricky. I struggle with the angle) And what a fascinating piece of history. Fav

@365projectorgheatherb I didn't have much choice with the angle, as the statue is close to the wall of the church. There's just enough room to get past it.
