1000 Mile Walk Day 76 by the River Arle, the level of which is especially high at the moment.
The fulling of cloth was a process to remove dirt and oils, and to tighten and shrink it into a closely woven product. According to Wikipedia, "in Roman times, fulling was conducted by slaves working the cloth while ankle deep in tubs of human urine!" By medieval times water power at the mill was used to drive hammers to do the work. These locals mills fell out of use in the 19th century as the work was scaled up. This mill is now a private house.
