This big thumb-sized arachnid was hanging on a web 12 feet high in the air & with each side of the web attached onto a pole on the left & tree limb on the right, each at least 5 feet away from the spider. I don't know how it was able to initially start the web, clearing the approx. 11 feet of open air between its securements. The wind?
I was on the phone as I took this shot- I was talking to a crying woman so I couldn't excuse myself to take the shot. I had the phone crooked between my ear & shoulder as I tried to take the shot, spider blowing in the breeze....
