Cortez the Killer

The El Cortez Apartment Hotel was built in 1926, here in San Diego. It was the tallest building in the city. It was the World's first location to feature an outside glass elevator and motorized moving sidewalk.
By the 1980's the El Cortez had fallen into disrepair and was slated for demolition, before being designated a historic site. It has since been renovated and is now made up of condominiums.
The El Cortez is 310 feet tall.
I shot this from street level, blocks away, at 9th & B.

I saw this on House Hunters last night! The subject did not chose the condo in the Cortez though.

@cejaanderson I had a friend who lived there in the 90's right after they renovated & created the condos. She'd told me that they were really great & low-priced. I have never actually been inside, however.
