Almost every day, Diego gets in a walk to the athletic fields and track behind our house. Part of this constitutional is climbing onto the modest stands the school erects for spectators of sporting events taking place on the fields. Dutifully and joyfully, Diego climbs up the shortest level from the side and ascends to the highest, smiling at his progress. I wonder if he is in some way urging himself to grow. He’s so big, so strong for his age. I marvel at his progress, but sometimes it seems almost like he’s treating the world as his gym and he’s constantly on leg day!
