Today is the day I get back home. Today I get to see this guy and his mom. She captured him in action yesterday and my heart ached to be there watching him while he figured out how to use Cogsley, one of his brother’s somewhat ignored toys from toddlerhood. Diego has long loved Cogsley, but it has always been a little too advanced a plaything even for his stunning level of mental and physical ability. That said, I wonder if in this moment I missed, he finally really got how to place in the token and turn the little robot’s nose. I wonder just how much I missed while working, sightseeing, and hanging out in pubs. I’d do anything to get that time back. And soon I can start experiencing things I really want to experience again.
