Painting by German Artist Robert Zünd

My Mother gave me this painting 14 years ago. It was a total surprise and I love it very much. I will always cherish it.

It's from the Bible story about the two disciples on the way to Emmaus on Easter Day.

They were sad because Jesus had died, and they were talking with each other about all the things that had happened. Jesus himself began walking with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.

And he asked them what they were talking about. And they stood still, looking sad and told him what happened to Jesus and how he died.

Jesus then on the way explained everything to them from the scriptures from the beginning until that time.

Later when they realized it was him,

They said to each other, "Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?"

I love this story and that last verse especially.
