They have all kinds of competitions with cutting logs with saws and axes, standing on a log in the water and rolling it with their feet (two at once trying to knock each other off), and things like that. It all goes back to the days of the late 1800's/early 1900's when humans were very busy denuding America of its trees to build businesses, houses, railroads, etc. In modern times, it's actually a valid "sport" with national lumberjack competitions, etc. :)
